Client Accounting Professional


Following is a detailed list of knowledge and skills that are needed to successfully perform the position of client accounting professional. Applicants must be experienced using QuickBooks and Creative Solutions Accounting. The position requires the applicant be, or be willing to quickly become, a QuickBooks Pro Advisor with experience reviewing client QuickBooks files, correcting client input errors as well as adding or changing QuickBooks set-up characteristics to better track client transactions.

Knowledge and skill at using all QuickBooks features, such as the following, is required:

+  setting up a QuickBooks file from scratch
+  setting up and working with charts of accounts, items, classes, vendor lists and customer lists
+  tracking inventory
+  creating inventory assemblies
+  tracking profitability by job, item and customer
+  preparing bank and credit card account reconciliations
+  tracking budgets
+  creating and tracking purchase orders and bills
+  creating and tracking sales order and invoices
+  preparing payroll, payroll tax returns and informational returns
+  customizing reports
+  memorizing transactions and reports

The position will require the ability to access QuickBooks using the following methods:

+  receiving and returning an accountants’ and portable copies
+  accessing clients’ computers using Log-Me-In or GoToMyPC
+  accessing QuickBooks on-line
+  accessing QuickBooks in the cloud
+  accessing QuickBooks at client offices

Knowledge and skill at using all Creative Solutions Accounting features, such as the following, is required:

+  maintaining an adjusted trial balance
+  entering transactions and journal entries
+  importing QuickBooks files
+  editing and customizing automated financial statements
+  preparing after-the-fact payroll tax and informational returns
The position may also include the following activities:

+  preparing income tax returns
+  analyzing client data
+  client consulting

Applicants are expected to have the following personal skills and traits:

A high level of skill is also required in the following software applications:

+  Excel – design and presentation, formulas, graphing, linking and macros
+  Word – design, presentation and mail-merge
+  Outlook
+  PowerPoint
+  LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter
